Who are we?
Club Together is part of a company called Xafinity Paymaster who pay the pensions of just under 3m people for over 400 companies and government departments.
The idea for Club Together came from our pensioners who felt they were being overlooked or discriminated against when it came to products, services and benefit entitlements.
So Club Together was created with the idea that if all 3 million of our pensioners ‘clubbed together’, they could use their collective clout to negotiate some great value deals on things we need and that are important to us.
Subsequent research identified the top 3 priorities for Club Together as follows:
1. Advice from experts, especially on getting benefit entitlements (84%)
2. Access to offers and deals (71%)
3. Opportunities to work and earn money (62%)
We co-opted some of our expert pensioners and also some external experts to write articles in our magazine (where the ethos is “older is better!”). They’ve written articles about things like Government Benefits, Inheritance Tax, Caring and, on a slightly lighter note, surfing, motor bike clubs, mountaineering, volunteering, cooking and the best and worst holiday destinations. We’ve also involved people like Judith Holder (the writer of “Grumpy Old Women”) to add some fun.
We ask our (paid) pensioner focus groups to suggest potential offers, sources of income and companies we should negotiate with. We then ask them to review and critique what has been negotiated. As a result we’ve secured some fantastic and exclusive member offers and opportunities to earn money and we’re always looking for more suggestions!
We are very proud that to-date, over 90% of our pensioners like Club Together and 86% rate our offers as ‘good’, ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’.
